Our Story

How it all started...

South Orlando Baptist Church started meeting in an Orlando Hotel as Archway Baptist Fellowship in 1979 and became a mission of the First Baptist Church of Orlando in 1980. The mission was officially constituted as an autonomous church in 1982. For more than 40 years,  South Orlando Baptist church has faithfully shared the Gospel with the city of Orlando, FL and beyond.

Expanding the vision...

In 1980, we were able to purchase 10 acres of land on South Orange Blossom Trail, in the heart of South Orlando. In 1981, the church added the ministry of Regency Christian Academy to help area families with Christ-centered private education. Since 1982, South Orlando Baptist Church has grown to be involved in church planting, the Jesus film, overseas mission work, and community outreach.

Where we are headed...

We are working hard to take the message of the Gospel to the neighborhoods that surround our campus, to the more than 10,000 people who live within a 5 mile radius. We also have growing ministries around the world that we assist on an annual basis. Come and change the world with us here at South Orlando Baptist Church!
