Resolved: I Will Serve Others as Jesus Served

John 13:1-20

Context - Right before Jesus was to go to the cross He washed His disciple's feet.

Main Idea - Jesus wants us to serve others as he served us.

Radical Christian service requires that you...

1) Love others to the fullest (1-5)
A) Love others fully (vs. 1) - The phrase in the ESV at the end of verse 1 “to the end” can be translated “to the limit.”
B) Love your enemies (vs. 2-5) – Jesus even washed the feet of Judas, knowing that Judas would betray him in just a few hours. (Matthew 5:44)

2) Let Christ clean you completely (6-11)
A) Christ cleans us completely when we trust in him. (1 John 1:7)
B) Christ demands that we let Him “clean our feet” (1 John 1:9)

3) Live out the example of Jesus (12-20)
A) We are to do for others what Jesus has done for us. (vs. 15)
B) We are blessed if we understand this truth and apply it. (vs. 17)
