James 3:1-12

Context - Continuing the theme of being a doer of the Word, James now explains how this world will know you are a Christian by 3 W's - 1) Your Works (James 2:14-26) 2) Your Words (James 3:1-12) 3) Your Wisdom (James 3:13-18)

Main Idea - All followers of Jesus must submit their tongue to His Lordship rule.

To control your tongue…

1) Behold its power (vs. 1-5)
Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.

2) Beware its dangers (vs. 6-9)
Ephesians 4:29 Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear.

3) Bless God Exclusively (vs 9-12)
Psalm 19:14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my rock and my Redeemer.
