South Orlando Baptist Church, Orlando, Florida, invites résumés for candidates for the position of Director of Children’s Ministry. South Orlando Baptist Church comprises a diverse membership from more than 40 nations and has an active music ministry with an adult choir, children’s choir, and praise band. Historically, it has employed a blended musical service with a mix of traditional hymns and modern worship songs.

Our church is committed to Expository Preaching, Celebrative Worship, and Missional Outreach to the community and beyond. Our church is a member of the Southern Baptist Convention and is involved in the Greater Orlando Baptist Association, The Florida Baptist Convention, The 9-Marks network, and the ministries of Cru, Wycliffe Bible Translators, Pioneers, and Campus Outreach.

Job Description

SOBC Kids, as the ministry to children of South Orlando Baptist Church, exists to share Jesus with the children of SOBC, equip the parents of SOBC to disciple their children at home, and reach the families of RCA and the greater community with the gospel of Christ.

Responsibilities of the Children’s Minister include:

Oversight of SOBC Kids Sunday morning ministries

• Oversee, support, & recruit Sunday School teachers for classes Birth to 5^th grade
• Oversee, support, & recruit Nursery workers
• Oversee, support, & recruit Children’s Church workers
• Build relationships with children & parents.

Oversight of SOBC Kids Wednesday evening ministries

• Oversee, support, & recruit leaders 
• Build relationships with children & parents.

Regency Christian Academy

• Build relationships with RCA students ages Preschool to 5^th grade & their parents
• Communicate with RCA families about SOBC programs & events

Media

• Maintain email communication with SOBC & RCA families
• Oversee & utilize SOBC Kids social media to reach & communicate with families (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc.)

VBS

• Oversee, support, & recruit leaders for VBS 
• Organize & implement event
• Oversee & implement advertisement of even
• Build relationships with children & parents

Student Volunteers

Oversee & implement training of middle & high school students twice each calendar year in order to equip students to volunteer in the SOBC Kids ministry

Outreach

• Organize, recruit, & implement events to reach the children of SOBC, RCA, and the greater community
• Visit families of SOBC & RCA in their homes or hospital when the need or opportunity arises

Administration

• Organize & maintain database of SOBC & RCA children/families
• Organize, maintain, & promote an annual calendar of SOBC Kids programs & events
