TRUTH DEFENDERS | Sundays at 9:45 AM – Shepherd’s Hall | Room 32
Teacher: Patrick Oliver
The motto of Truth Defenders is to “know truth, love people and engage all cultures” with the truth of Christ. Our aim is to prepare the saint for deeper roles in ministry and equip the saint for spiritual warfare (Ephesians 6:10-17). Our method is to cycle through three different types of study: systematic theology, apologetics and worldview:
- Systematic theology is the study of God, how He has revealed Himself through his Word and what his written word teaches us.
- Apologetics is the application of biblical principles to provide a rational defense of the truth claims of the Christianity (1 Peter 3:15).
- The study of worldview involves how people view and interact with the world around them. Since worldview is based on theology (whether correct or incorrect), it is important for the Christian to understand the worldview of non-Christians for meaningful engagement.
We utilize diverse materials and a conversational lesson style to guide Christians at all levels through the subject matter, encouraging all in their growth in Christ, discipleship and ministry. Since our study topics revolve in cycles, we welcome all to come in at any time to join us.

Join us as we look to God’s Word for answers to these and other relevant concerns.

BEREANS | Sundays at 9:45 AM – Shepherd’s Hall | Room 41
Teacher: Mike and Sus Schmitt
The Bereans small group derives our name from Acts 17:11… “[The Bereans] listened to the message with great eagerness, and every day they studied the Scriptures to see if what Paul said was really true.” We love to understand the Word of God. Our class times include a lot of laughter as we grow together through active participation in group discussion and prayer. We provide an atmosphere where anyone is at ease in discussing the meaning and application of the Scripture passages we study. We also emphasize missions and the opportunities we each have to serve the rest of the South Orlando Baptist community. We share prayer needs during our times together and regularly through email. We enjoy fellowship times outside of class as well.
The Bereans meet at 9:45 AM on Sundays in Shepherds Hall 41.
We welcome adults of all ages who want to explore the Scriptures with us. We welcome visitors and invite you to join us!
