Pastor Ramel Cuenca became the third Senior Pastor of South Orlando Baptist Church in January, 2008.  Previous to coming to South Orlando Baptist, he has served in the military and hospital chaplaincy.  He and his family served as International Mission Board Missionaries in Indonesia for almost seven years.  He has also served as Senior Pastor of Marbel Baptist Church in the Philippines and First Filipino International Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida.

Receiving his Bachelor of Theology degree in the Philippines at the Philippine Baptist Theological Seminary in 1984, Pastor Ramel was able to continue his education at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky , receiving a Master of Divinity in Pastoral Care and Counseling in 1994.  It is exciting to see how God has prepared Pastor Ramel with this educational background and broad range of experiences before placing him in the leadership position as Senior Pastor of South Orlando Baptist Church.

Ramel has been married to his wonderful wife, Sherry Faye Cuenca since May 6, 1987.  She is a registered nurse and a daughter of missionaries who loves learning different cultures.  Together, Ramel and Sherry have four children:  Christa Faye, Joy Marie, Ramel Ray and Zachary Thomas.
