A Note from our Worship Pastor / Founder of SOFA
South Orlando Baptist Church is a church blessed by God with many wonderful and talented individuals who love God and serve Him with their musical and artistic gifts. Shortly after coming to South Orlando Baptist Church in 1998, I enlisted several key musicians/leaders to help me compose a mission statement for the church’s Music Ministry. One of the key elements of that statement was to “encourage individual commitment to sustain, promote, and grow the entire Music Ministry: for the overall on-going ministry efforts of our church. SOFA’s desire is to provide ministry to people of all ages where they can come to learn the fundamentals of music and art, and develop proficiency in singing, playing an instrument and explore different forms of art media for personal growth and enjoyment, and for the glory of God.
Our staff is thankful for the opportunity to have you allow us to help develop your talents here at our school. The faculty we have chosen is dedicated to help you become the very best you can be, whatever your field of study.
The Bible tells us “As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” (1 Peter 4:10) God has given us many wonderful talents and gifts. He has also given us the ability to be creative, to compose music, to draw and paint but whatever form of creative expression interprets it expressively.
Our school’s objective is to help each person discover and expand their God-given gifts, and use these gifts for the glory of God, the edification of the church, and the good of our local community. It is my prayer that God will allow us to achieve this goal.
Finally, we hope your study here at SOFA will be fruitful and fulfilling as you grow as a musician and artist. Ultimately, we pray that, through the discovery of your gifts and talents, you will come to personally know the One who is the giver of every good and perfect gift, the Lord, Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory and praise forever and ever.
