What do people wear?

On Sunday mornings, you will see people dressed in shorts & flip-flops, coat & tie, and everywhere in between.  We encourage you to wear what makes you feel comfortable.  On Sunday & Wednesday nights and at special events, you can generally expect to see everyone dressed on the casual side.

Where do I take my kids?

SOBC offers a full range of programs for babies through 12th grade, and we run annual background checks on all of our volunteers.  In general, preschool is in Fletcher’s Hall, elementary is in Shepherd’s Hall (with the gym), and teens are on the second floor of Disciple’s Hall (The Oasis).  Check out the options listed under “Growing” on the top menu bar for details.

What kind of music is in your worship services?

When you join us on a Sunday morning, you will hear and sing a spectrum of music, including modern worship, gospel, jazz, and traditional hymns.  In our energetic worship, we utilize a variety of instruments including piano, keyboard, drums, guitar, bass guitar, organ, trumpet, and flute.  On Wednesday nights, though, keep your ears open for the youth group’s praise band as they bring a definite rock edge to the worship experience.

Is SOBC really as racially and ethnically diverse as it seems?

With racial diversity on the pastoral staff and within deacon body a priority, you know that race is not a dividing wall at SOBC.  With church members from over 20 countries and an abundance of inter-racial marriages, worship services at SOBC are unlike anything you have experienced before.
